Shinjuku is one of Tokyo’s most popular bases, just 45 minutes from Haneda, offering one of the best airport-to-neighbourhood transfer options in Tokyo.
Haneda’s proximity to central Tokyo (14 kilometres, compared with Narita’s 60) makes transfers across the city relatively fast. Shinjuku is one of the most convenient destinations from Haneda, with a direct and affordable Keikyu Line route.
Quick answer: Keikyu Line from Haneda Airport Terminal 3 to Shinagawa (13 min, 310 yen), then JR Yamanote Line to Shinjuku (about 25 min, 200 yen via Suica). Total around 45 minutes, around 600 yen. This is the fastest and cheapest option.
Option 1: Keikyu Line + JR Yamanote (Best Option)
- Keikyu Line to Shinagawa: 13 minutes, 310 yen
- JR Yamanote Line from Shinagawa to Shinjuku: Around 28 minutes, around 200 yen

The transfer at Shinagawa is straightforward; follow the signs for JR trains. The Yamanote Line runs every 3 to 4 minutes at peak times. Exit at Shinjuku Station, east or south exit, depending on your hotel location.
Option 2: Tokyo Monorail + JR Yamanote
- Monorail from Haneda to Hamamatsucho: 18 minutes, 500 yen (JR Pass valid)
- Yamanote Line from Hamamatsucho to Shinjuku: About 28 minutes
- Total time: Around 50 minutes
- Total cost: Around 700 yen, or free for JR Pass holders for the Monorail leg
Option 3: Airport Limousine Bus
Direct buses from Haneda to Shinjuku Bus Terminal (Busta Shinjuku). Journey time is around 35-60 minutes in normal traffic. Around 1,300 yen. More convenient for heavy luggage. Subject to traffic delays.
Option 4: Taxi
Around 8,000 to 12,000 yen and 35 to 60 minutes. Only practical for groups or late-night arrivals.
