Golden Week is Japan’s longest national holiday period, running from late April (Constitution Memorial Day, April 29) through to Children’s Day on May 5. Domestic travel reaches its absolute peak. Trains, Shinkansen, and popular tourist spots are the most crowded of the entire year during this period.
