Cherry Blossoms in Osaka
Osaka Castle Park
Approximately 3,000 cherry trees surround the moat and the grounds of Osaka Castle. The combination of the castle keep rising above the blossoms is one of the most photographed spring scenes in Japan. The inner moat area is particularly beautiful in the early morning. A large outdoor hanami (flower viewing) party culture fills the park on blossom weekends.
Kema Sakuranomiya Park
A 4.2km stretch of cherry trees along both banks of the Okawa River from Sakuranomiya Station to Temmabashi. One of Japan’s top hanami spots, with picnicking under the trees along the riverside being the primary activity during peak bloom.
Namba Parks and Tsurumi Ryokuchi
The Tsurumi Ryokuchi park in eastern Osaka (accessible by subway) has a rose garden in spring and is generally far less crowded than the castle park.
