Australian passport holders do not need a K-ETA for South Korea in 2026. Here is what you need and what has changed since the K-ETA was first introduced.
South Korea’s K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) was introduced in 2021 for visitors from visa-exempt countries. Australia is a visa-exempt country for South Korea, but the K-ETA requirement for Australian citizens has been suspended since 2023 and continues through 2026. Australian tourists do not need to register for K-ETA before visiting South Korea.
Current status: No K-ETA required for Australian passport holders visiting South Korea in 2026. A standard passport, an arrival card, and a return ticket are all that is required.
Australian Citizens – Korea Entry Requirements 2026
- Passport: Valid for the duration of stay. Airlines typically require 6 months’ remaining validity.
- Visa: Not required. Australians can enter South Korea visa-free for up to 90 days.
- K-ETA: Not required. Suspended for Australian citizens.
- Q-CODE: Not required and fully discontinued.

Should You Still Check Before Flying?
Yes. The K-ETA suspension has been extended multiple times and can technically be reinstated with short notice. If you are booking travel more than 2 to 3 months in advance, verify the current K-ETA status for Australian citizens on immigration.go.kr closer to your departure date.
