Because the district is large and spread across several sub-areas, location matters more here than in many other neighborhoods in Seoul. Below are the best options in each category, with practical notes on value, convenience, comfort, and which type of traveller each hotel suits best.

Gangnam Hotel Booking Strategy
Gangnam has some of Seoul’s best luxury hotels, often at better value than comparable properties in Tokyo. It is a strong choice for business travellers, luxury-focused visitors, K-pop fans, shoppers, and travellers planning to spend most of their time in southern Seoul.
For general sightseeing, Gangnam is less convenient. Major attractions, such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong, and Namdaemun Market, are typically 20 to 40 minutes away by subway in northern Seoul. Myeongdong or Hongdae is often better for first-time leisure travellers.
The COEX area is useful for indoor convenience, with hotels near or connected to COEX Mall, Starfield Library, Bongeunsa Temple, and COEX Aquarium. Around Gangnam Station, midrange business hotels offer good value, usually 70,000 to 120,000 won.
Recommendation: Stay in Gangnam for business, shopping, dining, K-pop, or luxury hotel value. For classic sightseeing, choose Myeongdong or Hongdae instead.
