Spring is Busan’s most underrated season. While Seoul gets all the cherry blossom attention, Busan has its own excellent blossom spots along the Nakdong River and in the hillside neighbourhoods, and its proximity to Jinhae, Korea’s most famous cherry blossom destination, makes it the ideal base for a spring trip that catches the best blossoms in the country without the Seoul hotel prices. The weather is gentle, the beaches are uncrowded, and the seafood is as good as any time of year.

Highs of 12 to 15 degrees. Lows of 4 to 8 degrees. The south coast (including Busan) is 2 to 3 degrees warmer than Seoul in March. The first cherry blossoms appear in late March in Busan, earlier thanin Seoul.

Highs of 16 to 20 degrees. Lows of 8 to 12 degrees. Peak cherry blossom in early April. Perfect sightseeing conditions. Post-blossom fresh green from mid-April. Some rain possible.
May

Jinhae Day Trip: Korea’s Best Cherry Blossoms
Jinhae is 45 to 60 minutes from Busan by bus or train and hosts Korea’s most famous cherry blossom event, the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, typically held in late March to early April. The Yeojwacheon Stream, lined with thousands of cherry trees, Gyeonghwa Station’s famous railway blossom scene, and the overall scale of the blossom make Jinhae the finest single cherry blossom destination in Korea. Cherry Blossoms in Busan Itself
Citizens Park (Busan Citizens Park)
A large central park in the Bujeon-dong area with cherry trees lining the main walking paths. Less famous than Jinhae or Seoul’s spots but excellent for a relaxed morning blossom walk without crowds.
Oncheonjeon Stream
The Oncheonjeon Stream in the Dongnae area has cherry trees along both banks, creating a pleasant blossom canal walk accessible by subway.
Dalmaji Hill (Haeundae)
The hillside road above Haeundae Beach (Dalmaji-gil) has cherry trees lining the cliff, with views of the sea below. The combination of blossom and ocean is distinctive.
What to Do in Busan in Spring
Beaches (Pre-Summer)
Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches in spring are a different experience from summer: uncrowded, clean, and atmospheric. The sea is too cold for swimming, but the beach walks and cafes are excellent. The Haeundae Sky Capsule (see the Haeundae Sky Capsule guide) is accessible without the summer queues.
Gamcheon Culture Village
The hillside neighbourhood (see the Gamcheon Culture Village guide) is particularly photogenic in spring, with fresh flowers against the painted houses. Easier to navigate before the summer heat.

The coastal temple (see the Haedong Yonggungsa guide) has cherry trees on the approach path that bloom in early April, making the combination of sea, temple, and blossom one of Busan’s finest spring scenes.
Seafood
