South Korea’s entry process was significantly simplified after the COVID era, and the current requirements are straightforward for most Western visitors. This guide covers what you need and, importantly, what you no longer need before flying to Korea in 2026.
Quick answer: Most Western visitors need a valid passport, a return ticket, proof of accommodation, and a completed arrival card. That is it: no K-ETA, no Q-CODE, no health declaration, no vaccination proof.
Passport
Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay in Korea. South Korea does not formally require 6 months of remaining validity beyond your departure date, but airlines often do. Check your carrier’s requirements before booking.
Visa

K-ETA -Currently Suspended for Most Western Visitors
The K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) was introduced in 2021 for visa-exempt nationalities. As of 2023 and continuing through 2026, it has been suspended for citizens of most Western countries.

Q-CODE No Longer Required

Arrival Card
All foreign visitors must complete an immigration arrival card on entry. This can be submitted digitally via the Visit Korea pre-registration system before your flight, or completed on the paper form distributed on board. Customs Declaration

Join the foreign nationals immigration line. Present your passport and arrival card. Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) are taken from all visitors.
