Gimpo is Seoul’s domestic airport and the departure point for all flights to Jeju. It sits on the subway, and the transfer to central Seoul takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Gimpo International Airport (GMP) serves domestic flights within Korea and a small number of international routes to Tokyo Haneda, Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei. It is the departure point for all Seoul-to-Jeju flights and is significantly closer to central Seoul than Incheon is.
Quick answer: Subway line 5 or the AREX All-Stop from Gimpo Airport Station reaches central Seoul in 20 to 35 minutes. Cost under 2,000 won with T-money. The simplest airport transfer in Seoul.
Option 1: Subway (Best Option)
Gimpo Airport Station sits directly below the terminal and is served by two lines:
- Seoul Metro Line 5 (purple): Direct to central Seoul. Yeouido in 12 minutes (380 won). Gwanghwamun in about 25 minutes. Frequent and fully covered by T-money.
- AREX All-Stop: Connects to Hongdae (Hongik University Station) in about 20 minutes and Seoul Station in about 35 minutes. Good for travellers heading to Hongdae or connecting to the main AREX line for Incheon.
- Gimpo Goldline (light rail): Connects to the Gimpo area but is less useful for transfers within Seoul.

Option 2: Airport Limousine Bus
Several limousine bus routes run from Gimpo to areas in Seoul that are not directly on the subway line. Journey time 40 to 70 minutes, depending on traffic. It costs around 7,000 to 10,000 won. Buy at the bus counter outside arrivals.
Option 3: Taxi
Metered taxi to central Seoul costs around 15,000 to 25,000 won and takes 25 to 45 minutes. Significantly more affordable than Incheon taxis, given the shorter distance. Practical for late-night arrivals or heavy luggage. Book via the Kakao T app.

Gimpo vs Incheon
