The Haeundae Sky Capsule (해운대 블루라인파크) is a glass-pod capsule train running along a coastal cliff track between Haeundae and Songjeong beaches, with elevated sea views from Mipo to Cheongsapo. Here is how to book, what to expect, and what to know before you go.
The Sky Capsule opened in 2020 as part of the Bluelinepark coastal tourism project, which also includes the Haeundae Beach Train (a vintage-style open train running along the same coastal route). The capsules seat 2 to 4 people and are enclosed in glass on three sides, giving unobstructed views of the East Sea.
Route and Stations
The Sky Capsule runs between Mipo Station (near the eastern end of Haeundae Beach) and Cheongsapo Station (a small fishing village to the north). Intermediate stops: Daritdol Skywalk (a transparent walkway over the sea). Total one-way journey: about 30 minutes. Round trip: about 60 minutes.
The views are most dramatic on the northbound section (Mipo toward Cheongsapo), where the track runs along the cliff edge, with the sea directly below the capsule’s glass floor. The southbound return offers good views, but from a higher, slightly more inland position.
Tickets and Booking
Tickets must be booked in advance online via the Bluelinepark official website (bluelinepark.com) or in person at the Mipo Station ticket office. Online booking is strongly recommended as same-day availability is frequently sold out, especially on weekends and Korean public holidays.
Price: 35,000 won per capsule for a round trip (up to 4 people per capsule). A single capsule for 2 people, therefore, costs 17,500 won per person, round-trip. There is also a one-way option at 30,000 won per capsule. Booking times open on the 1st of the preceding month for all dates in the following month.
Getting to Mipo Station
Haeundae Station on Line 2, then walk 15 to 20 minutes east along the beach promenade toward the far eastern end, or take a short taxi (about 5,000 won) from Haeundae Station to the Mipo area. The Sky Capsule station is clearly signed in Mipo, where the beach ends and the coastal road begins to climb.
Haeundae Beach Train (Alternative)
Running on the same track as the Sky Capsule, the Haeundae Beach Train is a slower, open-air, vintage-styled train car with similar coastal views but a different character. It is significantly cheaper (about 8,000 to 10,000 won round-trip) and does not require the same level of booking. Good option if the Sky Capsule is sold out.
Practical Tips
Best time of day: Morning departures have the clearest light for sea views. Afternoon departures from around 3 pm have the sun on the seaward side,e which can cause glare on the glass. Golden hour (1 hour before sunset) capsules are the most booked and the most photographed.
Seasickness: The capsule rocks gently on the track. Passengers prone to motion sickness should sit facing forward and focus on the horizon.
Combine with Cheongsapo: The Cheongsapo station, the end of the line, has a small fishing village with fresh seafood restaurants along the harbour. Arriving by Sky Capsule and having a seafood lunch before returning by Beach Train is a good structure for the outing.
