Incheon taxis are metered, reliable, and significantly more expensive than public transport. Here is what they cost, where to find them, and when taking one actually makes sense.
Taxis from Incheon International Airport to central Seoul are available 24 hours and are metered. They are the most expensive transfer option by far. Still, they have genuine advantages in certain situations: late-night arrivals, very heavy luggage, groups splitting the cost, or destinations not well served by bus or train.
Cost summary: Regular meter taxi to central Seoul: 55,000 to 80,000 won. Deluxe (black) taxi: 80,000 to 120,000 won. Tolls are added automatically to the meter. Journey time 60 to 90 minutes in normal traffic.
Taxi Types at Incheon
Regular Taxi (Orange or Silver)
The standard metered taxi. Starts at around 4,800 won with a distance rate applied. For most central Seoul destinations, the total comes to 55,000 to 75,000 won, including Incheon Bridge tolls (approximately 8,200 won added automatically to the meter).
Deluxe Taxi (Black)
Larger vehicles, English-speaking drivers, and a fixed surcharge above the standard meter rate. Total to central Seoul typically 80,000 to 120,000 won. Worth considering for business travellers or those with specific language or accessibility needs.
International Taxi (Specifically for Foreigners)
A designated service at Incheon for international visitors. Available at a dedicated counter in the arrivals hall. Fixed or metered fares with English-speaking drivers. Rates are similar to deluxe taxis.
Where to Find Taxis at Incheon
Taxi ranks are located on Level 1 outside the arrivals hall at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Follow the taxi signs from the customs exit. There is no need to book in advance for standard taxis. For deluxe or international taxis, use the designated counters inside the arrivals hall.

When a Taxi Makes Sense
- Late-night arrivals: After midnight, when AREX frequency drops and buses have stopped.
- Groups of 3 or 4: Splitting 70,000 won among 4 people is 17,500 won each, comparable to the limousine bus.
- Very heavy luggage: No escalators, no connections, door to door.
- Unusual destinations: If your hotel is not near a major subway station or bus route.
When a Taxi Does Not Make Sense
