Myeongdong is one of Seoul’s most popular business centers, full of hotels and well-connected. Getting there from Incheon takes around 55 to 70 minutes by public transport.
Myeongdong sits in central Seoul, roughly 55 kilometres east of Incheon International Airport. It is one of the most hotel-dense areas in the city and a natural first base for first-time visitors. The transfer is straightforward using the AREX and subway.
Quick answer: AREX Express to Seoul Station (43 min) then subway line 4 to Myeongdong Station (3 min) total about 55 minutes, 11,450 won. Or AREX All-Stop to Hongik University then line 2 to City Hall and line 4 to Myeongdong slower but cheaper at around 5,450 won.
Option 1: AREX Express + Subway Line 4 (Recommended)
- Step 1 -AREX Express: From Incheon Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 to Seoul Station. 43 minutes, 9,500 won. Pay with a T-money card or buy a separate ticket at the AREX counter.
- Step 2 – Subway Line 4: From Seoul Station, take Line 4 (blue) one stop south to Myeongdong Station. 3 minutes, around 1,450 won with T-money.
- Total time: Around 55 minutes
- Total cost: Around 11,450 won (about 11 USD)
Exit 5 or 6 at Myeongdong Station places you directly in the shopping street area. Most hotels in Myeongdong are within a 5-minute walk.
Option 2: AREX All-Stop Train (Budget)
- AREX All-Stop to Hongik University Station: 66 minutes, 4,950 won
- Then Line 2 to City Hall: 10 minutes
- Then Line 4 to Myeongdong: 3 minutes
- Total time: Around 85 minutes
- Total cost: Around 7,000 won, saving about 4,500 won versus the express
Option 3: Airport Limousine Bus
Bus route 6015 runs directly from Incheon Airport to the Myeongdong area, with stops near major hotels. Journey time is 70 to 90 minutes, depending on traffic. Cost around 10,000 won. Buy tickets at the orange Limousine Bus counter in arrivals (Level 1). Subject to traffic delays, factor in 30 to 45 extra minutes during peak hours.
Option 4: Taxi
Around 60,000 to 80,000 won and 60 to 90 minutes. Only practical for large groups, cost-splitting, or late-night arrivals when bus and train frequencies drop.
