Three days are enough to cover Jeju properly: the volcanic crater, the lava tube caves, the best beaches, and the haenyeo divers without rushing.

Day 1: East Jeju – Sunrise Peak and Haenyeo
Morning: Seongsan Ilchulbong
Drive to Jeju’s eastern tip. Seongsan Ilchulbong is a 182-metre UNESCO volcanic tuff cone. The climb to the crater rim takes 20 minutes. Entry 2,000 won. Arrive before 8 am to beat the tour buses. Haenyeo (female free divers) perform diving demonstrations at the base between approximately 10 am and 3 pm on most days.
Afternoon: East Coast Drive
Drive south along the east coast. Stop at Seopjikoji Cape for coastal views. The canola flower fields around Gasiri are spectacular yellow in spring.
Evening: Jeju City
Dongmun Traditional Market for evening food stalls. Try Jeju heuk-dwaeji (black pork BBQ), the local breed tastes noticeably different from mainland Korean pork.
Day 2: Hallasan and the Southern Coast
Early morning: Hallasan
Start before 7 am. The Seongpanak trail to the summit (1,950 metres, South Korea’s highest peak) is 9.6 kilometres one way and takes 4.5 to 5 hours up. The summit section gate closes at noon start early enough to reach it in time. Reserve your trail slot at Hallasan.jeju.go.kr (English available, daily climbers capped). The Yeongsil trail (2.5 hours return to 1,700 metres) is the best alternative for those not doing the full summit.
Afternoon: Jeongbang Waterfall and Seogwipo
After descending, drive south. Jeongbang Waterfall falls directly into the sea, one of the few in Asia to do so. Entry 2,000 won. Stay in Seogwipo for the night.
Evening: Seogwipo Seafood
Fresh Jeju abalone, sea urchin rice, and raw fish (hoe) at the Seogwipo restaurant strip or fish market.
Day 3: West Jeju – Lava Tube and Beaches
Morning: Manjanggul Lava Tube
Drive northwest. One of the world’s longest lava tube cave systems is UNESCO-listed, with around 1 kilometre open to visitors. Constant 11-12 degrees Celsius inside; bring a jacket. Entry 4,000 won.
Afternoon: Hyeopjae Beach
Jeju’s best west coast beach. Pale turquoise water against black volcanic rock, with views to Biyangdo Island, unlike any other beach in Korea.
Evening: Return
Drive back to Jeju City and the airport. Book the latest practical evening flight to maximize your third day.
