Seoul is a genuinely 24-hour city in many of its districts. The culture of eating late is deeply embedded, and several of Seoul’s most distinctive food experiences are specifically night-oriented. Night markets are not just tourist attractions here but genuine parts of how Seoul residents eat and socialize.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Night Market
The DDP Night Market operates in the outdoor plaza surrounding the Zaha Hadid-designed DDP building in Dongdaemun, open from approximately 7 pmm to midnight, Thursday to Sunday. The market has around 100 stalls selling handmade crafts, fashion accessories, and Korean food, run by vendors who are predominantly young designers and food entrepreneurs.
The food section features Korean street food staples alongside more creative concepts: Korean fusion tacos, gourmet tteokbokki, artisan Korean desserts, and various international street-food interpretations. The DDP building itself is dramatically lit at night, and the surrounding plaza has a lively, youthful atmosphere. Budget 10,00- 20,000 won for a satisfying DDP food crawl.

Myeongdong Street Food After Dark

One of Seoul’s most unique late-night food experiences: Noryangjin Fish Market operates 24 hours as a wholesale seafood market south of the Han River. From midnight to 6 a.m., the market shifts into its most active wholesale buying period, but visitors can come at any hour to select live seafood from the tanks and have it prepared at the cooking restaurants upstairs.
The process: walk through the lower market, choose live crab, abalone, flounder, or other seafood priced by weight, pay the vendor, and take a ticket to the restaurants on the upper floor, which cook it for a small preparation fee (5,000 to 10,000 won per group). The total cost of a seafood meal for 2 people ranges from 30,000 to 60,000 won, depending on the species chosen.

Han River Parks at Night
Seoul’s Han River parks (Hangang parks) are a uniquely Korean nighttime social phenomenon. Convenience store food (CU, GS25, 7-Eleven), tteokbokki from delivery, and beer from the parks’ own convenience facilities are consumed on the giver’s side while watching the Han River’s lit bridges at night.
