Nami Island (Namiseom) sits in the North Han River about 80 kilometres east of Seoul in Gangwon Province. Getting there independently requires taking a train or bus to Gapyeong, then a 5-minute ferry to the island. Here is the complete guide to every option.
Option 1: ITX-Cheongchun Train to Gapyeong (Best Independent Route)
Route: ITX-Cheongchun (intercity express) from Yongsan Station or Cheongnyangni Station to Gapyeong Station.
Journey time: From Yongsan: about 1 hour, from Cheongnyangni: about 55 minutes.
Fare: 3,300 won from Yongsan. T-money cannot be used; buy a separate ticket at the station. Trains run every 30 to 60 minutes.
From Gapyeong Station to the ferry: Take a local bus or taxi from Gapyeong Station to the Nami Island ferry dock (Namisum Ferry Terminal). The bus costs about 1,000 won for a 10-minute ride. Taxi costs about 5,000 won. The ferry crossing takes 5 minutes and costs 1,500 won round-trip (included with the Nami Island entry ticket).
Total time from central Seoul: About 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes.
Option 2: Shuttle Bus from Myeongdong or Dongseoul Terminal
Direct tourist shuttle buses run from Myeongdong and Dongseoul Bus Terminal to Nami Island. These buses go directly to the ferry terminal without requiring navigation at Gapyeong.
Fare: About 6,000 to 8,000 won one-way from Myeongdong, depending on the operator.
Journey time: About 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic.

Option 3: Organized Day Tour
Nami Island tours from Seoul are widely available through Klook, Viator, and local operators. Most combine Nami Island with Petite France or the Garden of Morning Calm (two other Gapyeong attractions) as a full-day itinerary.
Price: 30,000 to 60,000 won per person, often including entry to Nami Island and transport. More expensive than independent travel, but convenient with no navigation required.
Best for: Solo travellers who want company, visitors with limited time who want to combine multiple attractions in Gapyeong, and those who find an independent route confusing.
Entry to Nami Island
Nami Island entry: 16,000 won adult, 8,000 won child (as of 2026, check current pricing). The entry fee includes the ferry crossing. Purchase tickets at the ferry terminal or in advance via the Nami Island website. Tickets include unlimited entry and re-entry for the day.

Getting Back
